Your ring will undergo a meticulous production journey spanning six to eight weeks, comprising several key stages. Here's an overview of the major steps in the crafting process:
Stage 1: Casting
The custom design of your ring starts with a 3D print into a wax mould. The mould is coated with an "investment" substance, baked, and then filled with your chosen precious liquid metal. Upon cooling, a metal cast of your design is created.
Stage 2: Polishing
The ring's shape is refined and polished to achieve a brilliant mirror finish using a polishing wheel and buffing compound. The setting, often made in two pieces, is then meticulously attached, with claws securely soldered onto the band.
Stage 3: Stone Setting
Setting stones is a critical process to ensure their security and longevity in your ring.
- Step 1: Prepare the Seat:Drilling holes into the setting creates a secure "seat" for stones, especially those with side stones or hidden halos.
- Step 2: Create the Gallery:Drilling tools are employed to create a "gallery," optimizing the sparkle of each stone by allowing light to enter from the sides.
- Step 3: Setting Accent:StonesStones are carefully pressed into their designated seats, with claws formed and pressed over each stone individually.
- Step 4: Set the Center Stone:The most valuable stone undergoes a secure setting, a crucial step given its exposure to wear and tear.
Stage 4: The Final Touches
Your ring receives a final polish and, if it features white gold, a rhodium plate for enhanced durability and an ultra-white finish. Rigorous quality control testing ensures your ring meets the highest standards.
